Investment Strategy

The objective of this portfolio is to provide above average growth in capital over the medium to long term. Income will be of secondary importance. The risk associated with this portfolio shall be the same as the risk associated with SA equities as an asset class. Volatility of capital can occur over the short term. The portfolio shall invest in assets in liquid form and in shares across all sectors of the JSE Securities Exchange of South Africa and other permissible assets allowed by the Act. The portfolio shall be allowed to invest in listed and unlisted financial instruments (derivatives) as allowed by the Act from time to time in order to achieve its investment objective, and shall be permitted to invest in offshore investments as legislation permits.

Biography	Royce was employed at RMB Asset Management for 12 years from 1995 to 2007. During his tenure at RMB Asset Management he was Head of Financial sector research as well as a member of the Asset Allocation Committee. He also served on the board of RMB Unit Trusts Pty(Ltd). Throughout his career he has managed an array of investment products including Specialist Equity, Balanced funds and Hedge Funds. Royce co-founded Obsidian Capital (Pty) Ltd in 2007 and is co-manager of the Obsidian SCI Balanced Fund Unit Trust with Richard Simpson. Richard and Royce are the joint founders and Directors of Obsidian Capital.

Biography	Richard worked a senior investment professional at RMB Asset Management for 13 years between 1994 and 2007 where he was Chief Strategist, Head of Resources research, and a member of the Asset Allocation Committee. Throughout his career he has managed an array of investment products, laying the foundation for the multi asset approach that has become his passion. Richard co-founded Obsidian Capital in 2007 and, together with Royce Long, is responsible for overseeing the management of the concentrated suite of investment products that Obsidian Capital offers.
