Investment Strategy

The Fund aims to deliver capital growth over the long-term (5 years or more) through investment in sustainable securities. The Fund will invest in companies which are incorporated, domiciled, listed or conduct significant business in the EEA or Switzerland and will seek to achieve the investment objective through investment in securities that provide or produce sustainable products and services as well as having a progressive approach to the management of environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) issues. The Fund will typically invest 95% (minimum 80%) in equities or equity related derivatives but may also invest in collective investment schemes (up to 10% of Fund assets), corporate debt securities, other transferable securities, money market instruments, warrants, cash and deposits.

Biography Martyn Jones is Lead Fund Manager of the Liontrust Sustainable Future European Growth Fund and Liontrust Sustainable Future Pan-European Growth Fund. Biography Peter Michaelis joined Liontrust in April 2017 following the acquisition of Alliance Trust Investments, where he was Head of Investment. Peter has been managing money in Sustainable and Responsible Investment for over 20 years. After completing a PhD in Environmental Economics, Peter started his career working for the Steel Construction Institute as an Environmental Engineer. He then moved to Henderson Global Investors where he was able to use his experience as a Sustainable and Responsible Investment Analyst and Assistant Portfolio Manager. In 2001 he moved to Aviva Investors, where he was promoted to lead Portfolio Manager on a number of its Sustainable and Responsible Investment funds, before being made Head of Sustainable and Responsible Investment. Peter holds an MA in Physics from Oxford University, an MSc in Energy and Environmental Engineering from the University of Sussex and a PhD in Environmental Economics from the University of Surrey. In addition, he has the CFA Society of the UK Investment Management Certificate (IMC).

Biography Neil Brown joined Liontrust in 2017 after spending five years at Alliance Trust Investments as investment manager on the European funds, before being promoted to lead fund manager on them at Aviva Investors in 2011. Prior to Aviva, he was at Threadneedle Asset Management where he combined the roles of Pan European Equity Analyst and Head of Governance and Responsible Investment. Neil is lead fund manager on the SF European Growth OEIC and SF Pan European SICAV. He is co-fund manager on the SF UK Growth and UK Ethical funds. A frequent guest host on CNBC Squawk box, Neil is also the immediate past Chair of the Investment Integration Working Group, a member of the Listed Equity Advisory Committee and a member of the Sustainable Development Goals in Active Ownership Management Working Group of the UN Principles for Responsible Investment. Neil has an MSc in Development Economics from the School of Oriental & African Studies and a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Manchester.

Biography Julie joined the firm (as General Accident Investment Management Services) in 1996. Prior to joining the SRI Team, Julie was a Fund Manager in the Pan-European Equity Team where she managed a number of offshore and specialist life funds. Previously, Julie spent two years as a Fixed Income Dealer at Swiss Bank Corporation. She holds a BA in Biochemistry from Oxford University, the IMC and UKSIP.
