Investment Strategy

The Fund aims to provide income yield and capital growth over the long term. The fund targets returns in excess of the benchmark, measured over three year periods. The fund maintains an exclusive focus on interest-income generating South African listed property stocks, specifically Property Unit Trusts (PUTs) and Property Loan Stocks (PLSs). The investment team utilises Investec Property Investments’ proprietary research platform to assist in the screening and selection of listed property securities. The focus is on sourcing lines of stock at attractive prices and identifying value opportunities relative to the sector in order to achieve outperformance.

Biography Luqman is a portfolio manager responsible for South African real estate portfolios in Ninety One’s global 4Factor team. Prior to joining the firm, he was an asset manager at Eris Property Group where he was responsible for performance measurement and investment risk monitoring on a property and investment portfolio level. He held a similar role at the Public Investment Corporation. Luqman holds a Bachelor of Science Property Studies (Honours) degree from the University of Cape Town and is a CFA® charterholder. Biography Peter is a portfolio manager at Investec Asset Management, where his focus is on real estate. Peter was instrumental in the launch of the Global Real Estate Securities Fund which he now manages, as well as having broader real estate responsibilities in the Investec Growthpoint Africa Property Platform. He joined the firm in 2008 initially in the property division, and later moved to the asset management division in 2010. He has a broad range of property experience having been involved in property development, direct and listed property investments and property finance. Peter graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Property Studies along with majors in Accounting and Finance. Peter is a CFA Charterholder.

Neil commenced listed real estate portfolio management and analysis upon transferring to the investment team in February 2004. Prior to joining the firm, Neil worked in London at Coutts Private Bank and Deutsche Asset Management. He graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Business Science (Hons) degree in Accounting and Finance. Neil is a CFA Charterholder.

Biography Angelique is a portfolio manager at Investec Asset Management with a focus on property investments. She was one of the founder members of Provest Management (Pty) Ltd (“ Provest ”), a South African listed property asset management company founded in January 1998. In March 2003, Provest was acquired by Investec Limited and Angelique was appointed CEO of Investec Property Investments (Pty) Ltd. With effect from 1 September 2007, Angelique assumed the role of head of Investec’s Global Property Investments business, driven out of London. Angelique has advised on over £1.6 billion real estate private, corporate, government and parastatal transactions. Angelique holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree as was a post graduate diploma in Human Resources.

Biography Vuyani is the portfolio manager and co-fund manager on the institutional portfolios and Investec Property Equity Fund. He joined Investec Property in July 2005.Vuyani has worked for Labour Research Services, as a research economist for 2 and a half years, and Marriott Asset Management as an investment analyst and assistant fund manager for 8 years. He has more than ten years experience researching and investing into the listed property sector. Vuyani has acted as an advisor on direct and listed property transactions worth over R2bn over the past five years. He has a Bachelor of Administration (Economics) and a Master of Business Administration (Strategic Financial Management).
