The Ashburton SA Equity Fund is a general portfolio and the investment policy followed by the Manager will focus on achieving capital growth as its main objective, investing in a broad range of asset classes. In order to achieve this objective, the securities normally to be included in the fund will comprise a combination of financially sound ordinary shares and fixed income securities embracing non-equity securities, stock, financially sound preference shares, debenture stock, debenture bonds and unsecured notes, all to be acquired at fair market values and any other non-equity securities listed on any recognised stock exchange which is considered consistent with the portfolios primary objective and that the Act or Register may allow from time to time, all to be acquired at fair market value. The manager may invest in participatory interests as well.

Biography | Stephen joined Fairtree in 2011 as a portfolio manager. After completing his MBA at the University of Stellenbosch Business School in 1996, he started his fund manager experience as an industrial analyst at Southern Asset Management. He joined RMB Asset Management in 2000 as a diversified industrial analyst. He was awarded his CFA charter during 2001. He joined the RMB resources team in 2001 and was ultimately promoted to head of resources research. Stephen has 12 years of experience as an analyst, covering a range of large and mid-capitalisation shares. He enjoyed the benefit of analysing multiple sectors and industries; valuing companies using different techniques; analysing cyclical and defensive businesses and witnessing multiple changes in the macroeconomic environment. He started his portfolio management career in 2002 while managing the RMB Value Fund. He took portfolio management responsibility for a RMB Resources Fund in 2007 and moved out of research and onto full time portfolio management of Institutional Balanced Funds and Equity funds in 2010. Stephen has benefitted from managing funds during periods of extreme volatility and during periods of stability. | ||
