Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electricity, Hotels and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472), which rose 10.00% or 1.30 points to trade at 14.30 at the close. Lily Textile (TW:1443) added 10.00% or 0.47 points to end at 5.17 and Holystone (TW:3026) was up 9.99% or 3.80 points to 41.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sincere (TW:2605), which lost 4.10% or 0.90 points to trade at 21.05 in late trade. Chia Hsin Ceme (TW:1103) declined 4.02% or 0.45 points to end at 10.75 and Sino Horizon (TW:2923) shed 3.70% or 0.80 points to 20.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 571 to 181 and 120 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.24% or 0.12 to $50.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.21% or 0.11 to hit $53.10 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.22% or 2.80 to trade at $1281.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 30.321, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2258.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 99.69.
