Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 4.73% or 1.48 points to trade at 32.75 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) added 2.84% or 0.55 points to end at 19.90 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 2.72% or 1.00 points to 37.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which lost 3.39% or 0.51 points to trade at 14.55 in late trade. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) declined 2.15% or 0.43 points to end at 19.53 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) shed 1.74% or 0.15 points to 8.45.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 211 to 185 and 41 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.81% to 27.67 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.22% or 2.65 to $1234.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.55% or 0.82 to hit $52.19 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.93% or 1.34 to trade at $142.73 .
USD/BRL was up 0.20% to 3.1219, while EUR/BRL fell 0.37% to 3.3377.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 100.26.
