Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Glass and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165), which rose 10.00% or 3.70 points to trade at 40.70 at the close. Hong Ho Precis (TW:1446) added 9.98% or 2.00 points to end at 22.05 and Goodway (TW:1583) was up 9.95% or 5.80 points to 64.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pao Lung (TW:1906), which lost 7.34% or 2.15 points to trade at 27.15 in late trade. Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) declined 6.76% or 0.71 points to end at 9.79 and Silitech Tech (TW:3311) shed 6.02% or 1.05 points to 16.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 587 to 208 and 79 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.54% or 0.27 to $50.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.75% or 0.40 to hit $53.51 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.45% or 5.45 to trade at $1203.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.50% to 31.029, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2230.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 102.16.
