Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Cement sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were SciVision Biotech Inc (TW:1786), which rose 9.92% or 4.45 points to trade at 49.30 at the close. Acelon Chemicals & Fiber Corp (TW:1466) added 9.87% or 1.10 points to end at 12.25 and Everspring Industry Co Ltd (TW:2390) was up 9.68% or 1.35 points to 15.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which lost 9.58% or 1.60 points to trade at 15.10 in late trade. Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) declined 8.20% or 1.80 points to end at 20.15 and Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) shed 4.29% or 1.20 points to 26.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 419 to 332 and 127 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.25% or 0.12 to $47.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.24% or 0.12 to hit $49.59 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.67% or 8.59 to trade at $1291.29 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.03% to 30.073, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2267.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 96.55.
