Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.33% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Asrock (TW:3515), which rose 10.00% or 4.80 points to trade at 52.80 at the close. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) added 9.92% or 0.35 points to end at 3.88 and Thinking Eltr (TW:2428) was up 7.47% or 5.10 points to 73.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pihsiang (TW:1729), which lost 9.95% or 2.90 points to trade at 26.25 in late trade. Ko Ja (TW:5215) declined 9.71% or 3.40 points to end at 31.60 and Inventec Besta (TW:8201) shed 9.16% or 1.25 points to 12.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 470 to 304 and 102 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.04% or 0.49 to $47.82 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.94% or 0.47 to hit $50.69 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.30% or 3.62 to trade at $1222.52 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.22% to 30.193, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2284.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 99.46.
