Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Electricity and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Golden Bridge Electech Inc (TW:6133), which rose 9.87% or 0.93 points to trade at 10.35 at the close. First Copper Technology Co Ltd (TW:2009) added 7.49% or 0.70 points to end at 10.05 and Tsang Yow Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1568) was up 6.91% or 2.75 points to 42.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merida Industry Co Ltd (TW:9914), which lost 5.40% or 8.50 points to trade at 149.00 in late trade. China Metal Products Co Ltd (TW:1532) declined 5.27% or 1.70 points to end at 30.55 and Headway Advanced Materials Inc (TW:1776) shed 4.28% or 0.90 points to 20.15.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 392 to 369 and 117 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $46.01 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $48.42 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 2.53 to trade at $1236.23 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.19% to 30.358, while TWD/CNY rose 0.18% to 0.2236.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 94.60.
