Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 1.30%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which rose 6.46% or 30.00 points to trade at 494.50 at the close. Meanwhile, AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) added 5.37% or 8300 points to end at 163000 and MMK (MCX:MAGN) was up 4.41% or 0.897 points to 21.222 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which fell 2.38% or 19.00 points to trade at 780.00 at the close. Mostotrest (MCX:MSTT) declined 1.62% or 1.40 points to end at 84.90 and Sollers (MCX:SVAV) was down 1.50% or 6.0 points to 395.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 104 to 99 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) fell to all time lows; falling 2.38% or 19.00 to 780.00. Shares in AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.37% or 8300 to 163000. Shares in MMK (MCX:MAGN) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 4.41% or 0.897 to 21.222.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.47% to 37.760.
Gold for December delivery was up 2.18% or 24.60 to $1152.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.17% or 0.07 to hit $41.34 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.63% or 0.29 to trade at $46.87 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.86% to 67.165, while EUR/RUB rose 1.64% to 75.266.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.43% at 96.01.
