Investing.com - Late on Sunday, a pivotal conversation took place between Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, and Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister. The phone call was centered around the upcoming NATO summit and Kyiv's ongoing efforts to regain territories previously annexed by Russia.
Blinken shared details about their significant discussion on Twitter stating: “Today I engaged in an important exchange with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba as we look forward to this week’s NATO Summit.”
In addition, Matthew Miller - spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State - separately affirmed that both diplomats also reviewed the advancements made in Ukraine's counteroffensive campaign.
Kuleba used his Twitter platform as well to detail how they were ironing out specifics before Tuesday's anticipated NATO summit set in Vilnius. He tweeted: “Had a fruitful conversation with Secretary Blinken before our meeting in Vilnius." With only 48 hours left until the conference, he added "We are striving for its final resolutions to be beneficial for all parties involved: Ukraine, NATO, and global security at large.”
Ukraine is anticipating explicit guidance regarding its prospects of joining NATO during these discussions taking place in Vilnius. On Friday last week, The White House indicated that President Joe Biden along with other leaders from the U.S.-led alliance will deliberate over what steps need completion from Ukraine's side.
