Australia is delighted to welcome Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his official visit, highlighting the two nations' shared commitment towards fostering stability, security, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. The visit follows earlier discussions between both leaders at events like the G7 Summit and Quad Leaders' meeting held in Hiroshima.

Prime Minister Modi will be in Australia from May 22-24, during which he will engage in bilateral talks focusing on trade and investment opportunities. Discussions will cover topics such as strengthening people-to-people connections, renewable energy initiatives, defense collaborations, and advancing the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement aimed at boosting trade between both countries.

In addition to these diplomatic engagements, Prime Minister Modi is also scheduled to meet prominent business leaders from Australia who are eager to expand commercial ties with India by leveraging insights gained during the recent Australia-India CEO Forum held in Mumbai.

A key highlight of this visit includes a community event planned in Sydney where both prime ministers aim to celebrate the vibrant Indian diaspora that forms an integral part of Australia's multicultural fabric.

On his part, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese looks forward to visiting India later this year for September's G20 Leaders' Summit hosted by New Delhi – an important global platform driving economic cooperation among participating nations.

Significantly enhancing their relationship since PM Modi’s last visit back in 2014; today India and Australia share several common goals including ensuring a free and inclusive rules-based order within the Indo-Pacific region. Both countries actively pursue peaceful resolutions while being members of various international forums such as Quad Commonwealth, IORA (Indian Ocean Rim Association), ASEAN Regional Forum among others.

Moreover, they have jointly participated as Five Interested Parties (FIP) members within World Trade Organization discussions. Australia's crucial role in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) has also led to its support for India's bid to join the organization, further underlining their shared vision and commitment to regional prosperity.
