Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Information Technology, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.51% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH), which rose 13.20% or 39.60 points to trade at 339.50 at the close. Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) added 10.00% or 0.100 points to end at 1.100 and Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) was up 9.52% or 2.40 points to 27.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ACL Cables PLC (CM:ACL), which lost 50.00% or 57.50 points to trade at 57.50 in late trade. Capital Alliance Finance PLC (CM:CAFL) declined 18.75% or 2.10 points to end at 9.10 and Colombo Fort Investments PLC (CM:CFI) shed 11.66% or 9.90 points to 75.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 111 to 58 and 48 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.29% or 0.14 to $49.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.36% or 0.18 to hit $50.53 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.04% or 13.95 to trade at $1352.95 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.12% to 193.795, while USD/LKR rose 0.05% to 145.885.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 95.72.
