Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Green Energy and Carbon sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.67%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which rose 7.58% or 90.25 points to trade at 1,280.55 at the close. Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) added 4.93% or 189.55 points to end at 4,033.35 and LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) was up 3.42% or 158.35 points to 4,793.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which lost 7.73% or 564.10 points to trade at 6,730.80 in late trade. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) declined 3.66% or 60.55 points to end at 1,595.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) shed 3.08% or 46.10 points to 1,450.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 7.70% to 1,281.70, LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which was up 3.35% to settle at 4,792.00 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 0.81% to close at 464.75.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 7.68% to 6,733.55 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 3.67% to settle at 1,595.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 3.08% to 1,450.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1103 to 1067 and 59 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1935 rose and 1705 declined, while 127 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.82% to 10.93.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.69% or 16.15 to $2,358.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.41% or 0.34 to hit $83.91 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.39% or 0.35 to trade at $89.36 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.10% to 83.36, while EUR/INR rose 0.10% to 89.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 105.56.
