Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 1.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which rose 0.32% or 0.031 points to trade at 9.611 at the close. Abertis Infr (MC:ABE) unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to end at 13.430 and FCC (MC:FCC) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 7.590 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG), which lost 7.47% or 0.333 points to trade at 4.123 in late trade. Banco Popular (MC:POP) declined 4.36% or 0.052 points to end at 1.140 and Bankia (MC:BKIA) shed 3.80% or 0.024 points to 0.607.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 161 to 23 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.64% or 8.65 to $1367.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.05% or 0.49 to hit $47.09 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.37 to trade at $48.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1086, while EUR/GBP rose 0.76% to 0.8569.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 96.22.
