Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Electricity and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Uniflex Technology Inc (TW:3321), which rose 10.00% or 1.45 points to trade at 15.95 at the close. Cmc Magnetics (TW:2323) added 9.97% or 0.390 points to end at 4.300 and Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) was up 9.91% or 1.05 points to 11.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Winbond (TW:2344), which lost 7.42% or 0.95 points to trade at 11.85 in late trade. Federal Corp (TW:2102) declined 5.80% or 1.05 points to end at 17.05 and Sintronic Tech (TW:3536) shed 5.68% or 1.30 points to 21.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 406 to 379 and 94 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.81% or 0.42 to $51.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.45% or 0.25 to hit $54.80 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.23% or 2.85 to trade at $1233.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.14% to 31.086, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2216.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 100.45.
