Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Rubber and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Gintech (TW:3514), which rose 9.91% or 1.60 points to trade at 17.75 at the close. Merry Eltrs (TW:2439) added 9.91% or 16.50 points to end at 183.00 and Calin (TW:4976) was up 9.89% or 3.25 points to 36.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531), which lost 8.32% or 7.90 points to trade at 87.10 in late trade. Pihsiang (TW:1729) declined 7.64% or 4.70 points to end at 56.80 and Logah (TW:3593) shed 7.27% or 0.80 points to 10.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 411 to 339 and 124 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.50% or 0.25 to $49.37 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.40% or 0.21 to hit $52.20 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.02% or 0.27 to trade at $1264.47 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 30.120, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2293.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 98.84.
