Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 2.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4), which rose 7.00% or 0.24 points to trade at 3.67 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) added 9.86% or 0.65 points to end at 7.24 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was up 8.79% or 0.69 points to 8.54 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which fell 5.50% or 0.17 points to trade at 2.92 at the close. Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) declined 3.70% or 0.21 points to end at 5.47 and Oi SA (SA:OIBR4) was down 2.45% or 0.07 points to 2.79.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 216 to 88 and 9 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 6.91% to 55.23.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.12% or 12.60 to $1114.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.39% or 0.17 to hit $45.41 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.27% or 0.33 to trade at $121.17 .
USD/BRL was down 2.63% to 3.9572, while EUR/BRL fell 3.27% to 4.4225.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 96.41.
