Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Financials and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB rose 1.56%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Buzzi Unicem (MILAN:BZU), which rose 5.07% or 0.78 points to trade at 16.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Yoox (MILAN:YOOX) added 4.45% or 1.23 points to end at 28.86 and Luxottica Group (MILAN:LUX) was up 4.25% or 2.65 points to 65.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which fell 1.02% or 0.08 points to trade at 7.79 at the close. UnipolSai Assicurazioni SpA (MILAN:US) declined 0.36% or 0.008 points to end at 2.194 and Tod'S (MILAN:TOD) was down 0.34% or 0.30 points to 88.05.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 345 to 111 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Buzzi Unicem (MILAN:BZU) rose to 5-year highs; rising 5.07% or 0.78 to 16.15.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 2.54% or 1.10 to $42.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.34% or 0.67 to hit $49.51 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.70% or 7.90 to trade at $1115.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1136, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.7140.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 96.51.
