Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Sonae (LS:YSO), which rose 2.50% or 0.0210 points to trade at 0.8600 at the close. Montepio (LS:MPIO) added 2.14% or 0.009 points to end at 0.429 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) was up 1.90% or 0.0030 points to 0.1613 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which lost 3.52% or 0.0620 points to trade at 1.7000 in late trade. J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) declined 0.48% or 0.0750 points to end at 15.5300 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) shed 0.19% or 0.0090 points to 4.8140.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 19 to 15 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for May delivery was up 0.15% or 0.08 to $51.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $48.89 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 2.12% or 25.45 to trade at $1226.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0722, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.8676.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 100.31.
