Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Insurance and Real Estate & Construction sectors led shares higher while losses in the Services, Banking and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.32%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC), which rose 1.61% or 0.05 points to trade at 3.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) added 1.56% or 0.005 points to end at 0.325 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) was up 0.53% or 0.003 points to 0.570 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI), which fell 4.55% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.840 at the close. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) declined 2.80% or 0.017 points to end at 0.591 and Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) was down 2.54% or 3.00 points to 115.00.
The top performers on the ADX General were Emirates Telec (AD:ETEL) which rose 3.26% to 14.25, Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which was up 3.16% to settle at 0.98 and National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which gained 2.56% to close at 4.41.
The worst performers were Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which was down 4.17% to 0.690 in late trade, Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which lost 3.70% to settle at 1.04 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which was down 2.99% to 0.670 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 19 to 8; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 12 fell and 11 advanced, while 1 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.33% or 1.29 to $54.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 2.93% or 1.76 to hit $58.55 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.30% or 3.50 to trade at $1164.30 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.71% to 4.0541.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 96.67.
