Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Beverage, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.89% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO), which rose 3.59% or 14.60 points to trade at 421.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 2.96% or 15.80 points to end at 549.60 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) was up 2.31% or 29.50 points to 1,308.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG), which lost 11.57% or 23.80 points to trade at 182.00 in late trade. Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) declined 3.44% or 1.41 points to end at 39.76 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) shed 3.00% or 116.00 points to 3,755.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 846 to 721 and 532 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.29% or 5.85 to $1,991.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.83% or 0.69 to hit $83.90 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.90% or 0.79 to trade at $88.72 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 1.21, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 106.22.
