Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Electrical and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 3.19% or 28.60 points to trade at 926.00 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 2.83% or 6.40 points to end at 232.40 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was up 2.53% or 57.00 points to 2,307.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which lost 5.98% or 3.92 points to trade at 61.68 in late trade. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) declined 2.34% or 17.00 points to end at 710.80 and National Grid PLC (LON:NG) shed 2.06% or 20.40 points to 969.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 902 to 716 and 468 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.61% or 12.10 to $1,961.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.39% or 1.85 to hit $75.52 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.28% or 1.86 to trade at $79.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 105.35.
