Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Life Insurance/Assurance and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 6.21% or 15.10 points to trade at 258.30 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 4.00% or 16.20 points to end at 421.20 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) was up 2.51% or 13.80 points to 564.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which lost 3.32% or 50.00 points to trade at 1,454.00 in late trade. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 2.73% or 1.68 points to end at 59.84 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) shed 2.58% or 23.40 points to 885.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1012 to 621 and 467 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.39% or 27.95 to $2,040.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.56% or 1.92 to hit $76.78 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.37% or 1.89 to trade at $81.76 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.67% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.52% at 102.57.
