Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 6.63% or 13.40 points to trade at 215.40 at the close. Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) added 2.80% or 19.40 points to end at 712.80 and Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) was up 2.60% or 111.00 points to 4,378.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BP PLC (LON:BP), which lost 4.58% or 24.10 points to trade at 502.60 in late trade. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 3.51% or 15.85 points to end at 435.15 and InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) shed 3.04% or 182.00 points to 5,810.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 978 to 639 and 475 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.49% or 9.80 to $1,995.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.98% or 0.81 to hit $81.50 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.02% or 0.88 to trade at $85.47 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 1.21, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.58% at 106.55.
