Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 7.00% or 33.30 points to trade at 509.20 at the close. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) added 6.93% or 20.60 points to end at 318.00 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) was up 5.73% or 75.00 points to 1,384.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 4.40% or 84.50 points to trade at 1,835.50 in late trade. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) declined 2.90% or 4.70 points to end at 157.60 and GSK plc (LON:GSK) shed 1.90% or 27.00 points to 1,396.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1284 to 381 and 429 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.18% or 3.65 to $1,991.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.46% or 1.98 to hit $82.42 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.47% or 2.09 to trade at $86.72 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 106.03.
