Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Life Insurance/Assurance, Industrial Transportation and General Retailers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Aviva PLC (LON:AV), which rose 5.33% or 20.70 points to trade at 409.00 at the close. CRH PLC (LON:CRH) added 3.31% or 148.00 points to end at 4,624.00 and Legal & General Group PLC (LON:LGEN) was up 3.18% or 6.70 points to 217.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO), which lost 2.62% or 15.80 points to trade at 587.40 in late trade. Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR) declined 2.61% or 105.00 points to end at 3,925.50 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) shed 2.52% or 55.00 points to 2,128.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 913 to 702 and 479 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.71% or 12.95 to $1,844.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.36% or 0.30 to hit $82.61 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.45% or 0.38 to trade at $84.45 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.42% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 105.82.
