Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electrical, Industrial Metals & Mining and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 3.96% or 16.00 points to trade at 419.60 at the close. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) added 3.47% or 169.50 points to end at 5,060.00 and AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) was up 3.35% or 338.00 points to 10,438.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Experian PLC (LON:EXPN), which lost 10.27% or 276.00 points to trade at 2,411.00 in late trade. Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) declined 6.53% or 9.40 points to end at 134.64 and Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) shed 3.95% or 115.00 points to 2,799.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 861 to 787 and 443 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.30% or 5.90 to $1,981.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.90% or 2.48 to hit $83.01 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.72% or 2.44 to trade at $87.39 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.63% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.64% at 106.01.
