Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which rose 3.51% or 17.20 points to trade at 507.00 at the close. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 2.07% or 12.80 points to end at 632.00 and NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) was up 1.52% or 2.85 points to 189.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND), which lost 3.44% or 11.20 points to trade at 314.50 in late trade. Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) declined 3.27% or 25.60 points to end at 758.00 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) shed 3.18% or 19.60 points to 596.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 996 to 650 and 462 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.44% or 8.85 to $1,990.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.54% or 1.24 to hit $81.75 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.33% or 1.13 to trade at $86.02 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 104.86.
