Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Bankia SA (MC:BKIA), which rose 4.95% or 0.204 points to trade at 4.322 at the close. BBVA (MC:BBVA) added 2.03% or 0.146 points to end at 7.331 and Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) was up 1.49% or 0.061 points to 4.160 in late trade.
Biggest losers included B. Sabadell (MC:SABE), which lost 2.16% or 0.039 points to trade at 1.768 in late trade. Inditex (MC:ITX) declined 1.25% or 0.460 points to end at 36.195 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) shed 1.20% or 0.300 points to 24.650.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 112 to 62 and 12 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.36% or 4.64 to $1292.86 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 4.77% or 2.30 to hit $45.89 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.83% or 1.92 to trade at $48.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.30% to 1.1244, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8708.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 96.76.
