Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Wolseley PLC (LON:WOS), which rose 5.06% or 247.00 points to trade at 5130.00 at the close. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 4.07% or 29.40 points to end at 752.40 and Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) was up 3.63% or 23.00 points to 656.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which lost 2.98% or 17.00 points to trade at 553.00 in late trade. Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) declined 1.43% or 38.00 points to end at 2612.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 1.33% or 13.50 points to 998.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1221 to 775 and 420 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.17% or 2.15 to $1253.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.91% or 0.91 to hit $48.64 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.75% or 0.89 to trade at $51.79 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.49% to 1.2496, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.8681.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 99.17.
