Investing.com -- U.S. President Donald Trump stated Friday that Iran failed to meet his 60-day ultimatum to "make a deal," while commenting that Israel’s recent military strikes against Iran have been "excellent."

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: "Two months ago I gave Iran a 60 day ultimatum to ’make a deal.’ They should have done it! Today is day 61. I told them what to do, but they just couldn’t get there. Now they have, perhaps, a second chance!"

In an interview with ABC News, Trump praised Israel’s attack on Iran, saying: "I think it’s been excellent. We gave them a chance and they didn’t take it. They got hit hard, very hard. They got hit about as hard as you’re going to get hit. And there’s more to come. A lot more."

In another Truth Social post, Trump elaborated that he had given Iran "chance after chance to make a deal" and warned them "it would be much worse than anything they know, anticipated, or were told." He mentioned that "the United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the World, BY FAR, and that Israel has a lot of it, with much more to come."

Trump also claimed that certain Iranian "hardliners" who had spoken "bravely" are now "DEAD," adding that "it will only get worse." He urged Iran to "make a deal, before there is nothing left."

The escalating tensions in the Middle East have impacted financial markets, with U.S. stock index futures dropping Friday following Israel’s military strike on Iran. The Israeli strikes reportedly targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities with the aim of preventing Tehran from building an atomic weapon.

Iran has promised to respond harshly to the Israeli strikes and has already launched 100 drones in retaliation.
