Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Plastic and Cement sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Paragon Tech (TW:3518), which rose 9.87% or 2.25 points to trade at 25.05 at the close. Sintronic Tech (TW:3536) added 9.84% or 1.25 points to end at 13.95 and Aoc (TW:6289) was up 9.77% or 0.130 points to 1.460 in late trade.
Biggest losers included F-Pcl (TW:4977), which lost 7.65% or 4.40 points to trade at 53.10 in late trade. Htc Corp (TW:2498) declined 7.21% or 7.50 points to end at 96.50 and Nafco (TW:3004) shed 5.55% or 3.30 points to 56.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 645 to 137 and 71 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $46.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $47.95 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.75% or 10.25 to trade at $1368.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.37% to 32.390, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2056.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 96.38.
