Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kaori Heat Treatment Co Ltd (TW:8996), which rose 9.97% or 4.45 points to trade at 49.10 at the close. Chung-Hsin Electric & Machinery Mfg Corp (TW:1513) added 9.97% or 1.95 points to end at 21.50 and United Microelectronics Corporation (TW:2303) was up 9.89% or 1.30 points to 14.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chang Ho Fibre Corp (TW:1468), which lost 9.31% or 1.15 points to trade at 11.20 in late trade. JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) declined 6.93% or 2.10 points to end at 28.20 and RichWave Technology Corp (TW:4968) shed 6.52% or 7.50 points to 107.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 493 to 261 and 124 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.34% or 0.15 to $44.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.11% or 0.05 to hit $46.87 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.45% or 5.58 to trade at $1252.48 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.31% to 30.431, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2262.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 96.02.
