Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms & IT, Consumer Services and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 0.71% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Caixabank SA (MC:CABK), which rose 1.15% or 0.046 points to trade at 4.060 at the close. Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) added 0.69% or 0.175 points to end at 25.550 and Abertis Infr (MC:ABE) was up 0.52% or 0.085 points to 16.420 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mapfre (MC:MAP), which lost 2.98% or 0.097 points to trade at 3.154 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) declined 2.77% or 0.515 points to end at 18.050 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) shed 2.42% or 0.285 points to 11.480.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 113 to 61 and 14 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.54% or 19.71 to $1256.19 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.54% or 0.24 to hit $44.49 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.12 to trade at $46.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.65% to 1.1145, while EUR/GBP fell 0.69% to 0.8739.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 97.48.
