OpenAI has expanded the reach of its ChatGPT iOS app to an impressive 152 countries, including Australia, where it soared to second spot on the App Store's productivity charts on its opening day.
This phased international deployment took place over a span of two weeks, kicking off with a successful launch in the US, where it clocked more than 500,000 downloads in the first week itself.
Announcing the launch of the app, Open AI said: “With the ChatGPT app for iOS, we’re taking another step towards our mission by transforming state-of-the-art research into useful tools that empower people, while continuously making them more accessible.”
One of the key highlights of the ChatGPT iOS app is the integration of Whisper, an open-source speech recognition system.
This groundbreaking feature allows users to input their queries and prompts through voice commands, further enhancing the conversational experience with the AI chatbot.
In addition to the iOS expansion, OpenAI has also hinted at an upcoming Android app, allowing users of that operating system to join the growing community of ChatGPT app users.
