Nordic Nickel Ltd (ASX:NNL) CEO Todd Rodd sat down with Proactive's Andrew Scott, giving a rundown on the company's exploration efforts in Finland.
The company focuses on the central Lapland Greenstone belt, where it operates the Pulju project, its flagship endeavour in a region that Ross believes is a "new nickel sulphide district."
The results have indicated disseminated nickel mineralisation near the surface, echoing previous results from historical drilling.
"Everywhere we're drilling, we're seeing more and more disseminated nickel mineralization, which is very, very encouraging," Ross affirmed.
Drill program
During the interview, Ross outlined the 2023 exploration at the project, which kicked off in January with two drilling rigs.
The program aims to drill 22,000 metres over some 14 months.
Ross highlighted that a significant portion of drilling was completed in the first four months, with assay results gradually catching up. "It's been very busy for everyone on the ground," he noted.
BHP (ASX:BHP) explorer program
Discussing their involvement in the BHP Explorer program, Ross stated that Nordic Nickel was one of seven companies selected among 250 applicants.
The program granted the company US$500,000, bolstering its confidence to expand exploration activities.
"It's been a great program. We really enjoyed working with them," Ross said, hinting at ongoing conversations for future partnerships.
Pulju resource
Ross confirmed that the Pulju project has an existing mineral resource of 433 million tonnes at 0.21% nickel and 278,000 tonnes of contained nickel, among other elements.
An updated mineral resource estimate is in progress and planned for release by the end of the year.
"We're in a really, really good place here with a project that's of district scale," Ross concluded.
With Europe in dire need of critical minerals and Finland hosting the full battery metals value chain, Nordic Nickel aims to solidify its place in a market historically dominated by larger players.
