Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Financials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 2.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 0.84% or 0.040 points to trade at 4.730 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) fell 0.87% or 0.20 points to end at 22.84 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) was down 1.52% or 0.17 points to 11.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Randstad (AS:RAND), which lost 4.78% or 2.26 points to trade at 45.05 in late trade. Aegon (AS:AEGN) declined 4.69% or 0.201 points to end at 4.087 and ING Groep NV (AS:ING) shed 4.19% or 0.450 points to 10.285.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 146 to 22 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 16.42% to 26.99 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 2.55% or 1.29 to $49.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 2.39% or 1.24 to hit $50.71 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.17% or 2.15 to trade at $1274.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.1282, while EUR/GBP rose 0.54% to 0.7872.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 94.42.
