Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Industrials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 2.74% or 0.130 points to trade at 4.880 at the close. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) added 2.10% or 0.24 points to end at 11.65 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) was up 1.93% or 0.44 points to 23.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Kon (AS:PHG), which lost 1.82% or 0.43 points to trade at 23.50 in late trade. Randstad (AS:RAND) declined 1.77% or 0.85 points to end at 47.38 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) shed 1.72% or 0.076 points to 4.349.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 116 to 48 and 15 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.44% to 21.42.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.65% or 0.83 to $51.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.91% or 0.98 to hit $52.42 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.31% or 16.35 to trade at $1263.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1405, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.7838.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 93.48.
