Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding (AS:ASML), which rose 2.21% or 2.05 points to trade at 94.87 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 1.85% or 0.107 points to end at 5.886 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) was up 1.06% or 0.245 points to 23.275 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO), which lost 2.42% or 1.50 points to trade at 60.57 in late trade. Philips Kon (AS:PHG) declined 1.16% or 0.31 points to end at 26.32 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) shed 0.90% or 0.51 points to 56.22.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 111 to 63 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.90% to 16.62.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 3.02% or 1.52 to $51.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 2.52% or 1.30 to hit $52.98 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.58% or 7.35 to trade at $1270.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.0964, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8934.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 97.92.
