Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) have teamed up to give hundreds of millions of Microsoft enterprise users access to industrial metaverse and AI supercomputing resources via the cloud, in what is being called the “next wave of computing”.
Under the collaboration, NVIDIA via Microsoft’s Azure service will host two new cloud offerings which are NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud and NVIDIA DGX Cloud.
NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud is a platform-as-a-service that provides a full-stack environment to design, develop, deploy and manage industrial metaverse applications, while DGX Cloud is an AI supercomputing service that offers infrastructure and software for training advanced models for generative AI and other groundbreaking applications.
The aim of this collaboration is to help companies digitise their operations, engage in the industrial metaverse and train advanced models for generative AI and other applications.
What’s more, the two companies are also connecting Microsoft 365 applications like Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint with NVIDIA Omniverse to further enhance productivity and 3D collaborations in the platforms.

"Next wave of computing"
Microsoft CEO and chairman Satya Nadella said: “The next wave of computing is being born, between next-generation immersive experiences and advanced foundational AI models, we see the emergence of a new computing platform.
“Together with NVIDIA, we're focused on both building out services that bridge the digital and physical worlds to automate, simulate and predict every business process, and bringing the most powerful AI supercomputer to customers globally.”
Nvidia Omniverse
With the Omniverse connected to Azure Cloud Services, digital twins and Internet of Things (IoT) companies can link real-time data from sensors in the physical world to their digital replicas.
This will enable enterprises to build and operate more accurate, dynamic, fully functional 3D digital twins that automatically respond to changes in their physical environments.
Meanwhile, tech services giant Accenture (NYSE:NYSE:ACN) also developed a demo that showcases how integrating NVIDIA Omniverse with Microsoft Teams can shorten the time between decision-making, action and feedback.
Running on Omniverse Cloud and leveraging a Teams Meeting featuring Live Share, the demo illustrates how this integration can facilitate real-time 3D collaboration.
