Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Other Electronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Microelectroni (TW:2314), which rose 10.00% or 0.85 points to trade at 9.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Weltrend Semic (TW:2436) added 9.92% or 1.95 points to end at 21.60 and Plotech (TW:6141) was up 9.91% or 0.81 points to 8.98 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Giantplus (TW:8105), which fell 9.83% or 2.25 points to trade at 20.65 at the close. Aoc (TW:6289) declined 8.77% or 0.10 points to end at 1.04 and Kyet (TW:5225) was down 8.51% or 4.90 points to 52.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 429 to 412 and 1 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.39% or 0.56 to $40.49 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.96% or 0.41 to hit $43.21 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.17% or 1.80 to trade at $1052.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.38% to 32.776, while TWD/CNY fell 0.26% to 0.1952.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 100.22.
