Meeka Metals Ltd (ASX:MEK) has intersected a zone of shallow oxide gold mineralisation 320 metres northeast of the Driver lode of the St Anne’s prospect, delineating a new mineralised lode dubbed ‘Brassie’ within the greater Murchison Gold Project in Western Australia.
The Brassie lode is open to the north and at depth, with assays still pending for two shallow 40-metre-spaced drill fence lines to the north.
Results from this new lode have so far included 12 metres at 2.33 g/t gold from 44 metres with intersections of 4 metres at 3.96 g/t and 4 metres at 1.99 g/t from 52 metres.
“The Brassie lode is the second conceptual target at St Anne’s to deliver shallow high-grade gold,” Meeka Gold managing director Tim Davidson.
“This follows the discovery of the Wood lode in early November 2022. Both lodes remain open along strike and shallow drilling is underway targeting the northern extensions to this high-grade mineralisation.”
Extensions for Wood and Driver lodes
Meeka’s drilling also produced mineralised strike extensions for the Wood and Driver lodes, with new results including:
- 24 metres at 1.45 g/t gold from 119 metres, including 4 metres at 3.61 g/t;
- 16 metres at 1.59 g/t from 88 metres, including 4 metres at 3.50 g/t;
- 8 metres at 4.54 g/t from 76 metres, including 4 metres at 8.55 g/t; and
- 16 metres at 0.99 g/t from 56 metres, including 4 metres at 2.48 g/t.
The company’s drilling in this area has successfully extended St Anne’s strike length to 850 metres, with more underway targeting northern extensions of the Wood lode.
Mineral resource estimate deferred
“Drilling continues to extend the strike of the oxide gold at the Driver lode, where diamond drilling is also targeting primary mineralisation below the oxide horizon,” Davidson continued.
“With the identification of these two new shallow high-grade gold zones at Wood and Brassie, in addition to the extension in strike of oxide gold at the Driver lode, we have deferred the release of the St Anne’s mineral resource until the March 2023 quarter.
“This will allow drill outs at the new zones of shallow oxide gold for inclusion in the mineral resource, providing a more meaningful picture of St Anne’s for inclusion in the pre-feasibility study (PFS) being released in mid-2023.”
