Meeka Metals Ltd (ASX:MEK) has intersected more shallow, high-grade gold from extensional drilling targeting the Western Flank of the 610,000-ounce Turnberry deposit at the flagship Murchison Gold Project in Western Australia's Mid-West.
The shallow oxide gold was intersected outside the mineral resource and confirmed the continuity of mineralisation into a previously untested zone to the north.
Some of the notable assays include:
- 12 metres at 2.01 g/t gold from 20 metres, including 4 metres at 5.23 g/t;
- 12 metres at 1.70 g/t from 16 metres, including 4 metres at 3.30 g/t;
- 4 metres at 1.23 g/t from 56 metres;
- 8 metres at 2.09 g/t from 36 metres, including 4 metres at 3.78 g/t and 12 metres at 0.67 g/t from 56 metres; and
- 8 metres at 1.05 g/t from 52 metres.
This, too, returned shallow high-grade oxide gold, with standout results including:
- 16 metres at 1.18 g/t gold from 96 metres, including 4 metres at 3.10 g/t;
- 4 metres at 3.31 g/t from 32 metres and 16 metres at 0.48 g/t from 60 metres;
- 20 metres at 0.63 g/t from 40 metres, including 4 metres at 1.34 g/t and 4 metres at 0.33 g/t from 112 metres; and
- 4 metres at 0.34 g/t from 92 metres.
Plan showing new assays on the Western Flank.
Mineralisation open
“Drilling outside the mineral resource, on Turnberry’s Western Flank, continues to deliver shallow oxide gold to the north, and pleasingly, to the south where a conceptual southern extension was drilled and has returned shallow high-grade gold. Both extensions remain open along strike and at depth,” Meeka’s managing director Tim Davidson said.
“This drilling will be included in the December 2022 Turnberry mineral resource update and planning is in place to further extend the strike of this shallow gold.
"Shallow, high-grade oxide mineralisation added to the mineral resource through this drilling will have a meaningful impact on the robust outcomes of our December 2021 scoping study and will be included in the upcoming pre-feasibility study.”
Southern extension
Drilling also tested for southern extensions of Turnberry, which intersected sediments below a paleo feature, not the magnetic quartz dolerite unit that principally hosts gold at Turnberry.
Assay results from this drilling included:
- 8 metres at 1.93 g/t gold from 80 metres, including 4 metres at 3.46 g/t;
- 4 metres at 0.39 g/t from 56 metres and 4 metres at 0.33 g/t from 64 metres and 4 metres at 0.53 g/t from 76 metres;
- 4 metres at 0.48 g/t from 104 metres;
- 4 metres at 0.78 g/t from 72 metres; and
- 12 metres at 0.45 g/t from 76 metres.
