Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Power, Retail and Communication sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911), which rose 3.29% or 155.00 points to trade at 4,866.00 at the close. Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:4568) added 2.93% or 120.00 points to end at 4,215.00 and Astellas Pharma Inc. (TYO:4503) was up 2.74% or 51.50 points to 1,933.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541), which lost 4.83% or 62.00 points to trade at 1,221.00 in late trade. Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:5202) declined 3.94% or 27.00 points to end at 658.00 and Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TYO:6703) shed 3.07% or 29.00 points to 916.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 3006 to 694 and 167 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.25% to 23.20 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.37% or 0.33 to $87.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.24% or 0.22 to hit $91.94 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.06% or 1.15 to trade at $1,993.25 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.03% to 149.88, while EUR/JPY rose 0.08% to 158.91.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 105.93.
