Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Gas & Water, Electrical/Machinery and Marine Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:5214), which rose 10.19% or 278.00 points to trade at 3,007.00 at the close. Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. (TYO:2002) added 7.81% or 165.00 points to end at 2,277.00 and Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506) was up 7.53% or 32.20 points to 460.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Panasonic Corp (TYO:6752), which lost 8.91% or 128.00 points to trade at 1,309.00 in late trade. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (TYO:9104) declined 5.80% or 239.00 points to end at 3,883.00 and Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857) shed 4.67% or 187.00 points to 3,815.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2787 to 873 and 187 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 4.96% to 23.71.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.40% or 0.33 to $82.64 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.31% or 0.27 to hit $86.62 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.01% or 0.15 to trade at $2,005.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.77% to 150.24, while EUR/JPY rose 0.76% to 159.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 106.12.
