Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Steel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9009), which rose 7.76% or 396.00 points to trade at 5,500.00 at the close. Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506) added 4.60% or 22.00 points to end at 499.90 and Inpex Corp. (TYO:1605) was up 4.52% or 96.00 points to 2,219.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:4568), which lost 4.61% or 186.00 points to trade at 3,849.00 in late trade. NGK Insulators, Ltd. (TYO:5333) declined 3.55% or 66.50 points to end at 1,805.00 and Keio Corp. (TYO:9008) shed 2.74% or 122.00 points to 4,333.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2438 to 1195 and 217 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 4.43% to 21.90.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.94% or 1.66 to $87.10 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.72% or 1.55 to hit $91.45 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.75% or 14.45 to trade at $1,950.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.05% to 149.73, while EUR/JPY fell 0.06% to 158.38.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 105.94.
