Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3), which rose 5.85% or 1.49 points to trade at 26.97 at the close. Banco Bradesco SA Pref (SA:BBDC4) added 4.51% or 1.19 points to end at 27.60 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 4.29% or 0.18 points to 4.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which lost 1.79% or 0.28 points to trade at 15.40 in late trade. Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) declined 1.77% or 0.28 points to end at 15.55 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) shed 1.76% or 0.54 points to 30.11.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 230 to 158 and 37 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.47% to 30.99.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.90% or 11.32 to $1245.08 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.93% or 0.40 to hit $43.41 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.14% or 1.40 to trade at $124.70 .
USD/BRL was down 1.26% to 3.3013, while EUR/BRL fell 1.35% to 3.6914.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 97.11.
