Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Power and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.76% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI), which rose 3.47% or 12.600 points to trade at 375.400 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 0.58% or 13.95 points to end at 2437.00 and Coal India Limited (NS:COAL) was up 0.44% or 1.45 points to 329.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (NS:BHEL), which lost 7.23% or 10.40 points to trade at 133.50 in late trade. Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN) declined 4.36% or 37.90 points to end at 831.45 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) shed 4.11% or 6.45 points to 150.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 0.46% to 2434.60, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 0.16% to settle at 251.20 and Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which lost 0.43% to close at 327.30.
The worst performers were Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which was down 7.41% to 133.10 in late trade, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which lost 3.84% to settle at 150.10 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 3.84% to 737.05 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1414 to 98 and 29 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2263 fell and 422 advanced, while 183 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 33.24% to 18.4500 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.06% or 0.80 to $1322.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.57% or 0.27 to hit $46.78 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.73% or 0.36 to trade at $48.88 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.80% to 66.876, while EUR/INR rose 0.78% to 74.9940.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 95.47.
